Definitive for Pro Traders & Funds

Apr 2026 · 10 min read

Definitive is the onchain trading terminal built for professional traders, prop desks, and DeFi funds that need institutional-grade execution infrastructure. Full order type suite — TWAP, limit, stop, market — across 9 chains and 100+ DEXs. Performer Addresses for execution privacy. Volume-based fee tiers. Fireblocks and Fordefi integration. Post-trade reporting and PnL tracking built in. One terminal for your entire onchain operation.

Built for Professional Execution

The gap between what professional traders need and what most onchain tools offer is significant. Aggregators handle simple swaps. Retail terminals optimize for speed on entry. Neither was designed for the workflow of a professional trader managing meaningful size across strategies, chains, and positions over time.

Professional execution requires more than a swap button. It requires order management — the ability to define precisely how, when, and at what price an order executes. It requires routing infrastructure that finds best execution across the full available liquidity, not just a preferred DEX. It requires privacy mechanisms that prevent your onchain activity from being read by competitors. It requires post-trade record-keeping that enables performance analysis and accountability. And it requires the ability to connect your existing custody setup without compromising your security model.

Definitive was built by Coinbase Institutional Trading alumni who know what professional trading infrastructure looks like. Every feature in the terminal exists because professional traders needed it, not because it looked good in a product announcement.

Who Definitive is built for:

  • Professional traders managing $500K+ in onchain positions
  • Prop trading desks running systematic onchain strategies
  • DeFi hedge funds with LP reporting obligations and execution scale
  • Crypto whales managing diversified multichain portfolios
  • High-volume individual traders who have outgrown retail tools

If you are trading professionally onchain and your current tools lack order management, privacy, routing quality, or reporting — Definitive is the upgrade.

The Full Order Type Suite

Professional traders do not use market orders for everything. Position building, position management, and risk control each require different execution approaches. Definitive offers all four major order types, onchain, across all nine supported chains.

TWAP (Time-Weighted Average Price). The professional standard for executing large orders. TWAP execution breaks a large order into smaller tranches executed automatically over a defined time window. Market impact is distributed across many small executions — the market does not see a single large order that signals your intent and moves the price against you. Parameters are fully configurable: total size, time window, tranche interval. TWAP is the right tool whenever market impact is a meaningful concern relative to position size.

Use cases: building a large position in a mid-cap token over 24 hours, rotating a significant allocation from one asset class to another without moving the market, executing a treasury diversification with governance constraints on timing.

Limit Orders. Define an exact price at which your order executes. Definitive monitors onchain conditions and executes when your price is reached — onchain settlement, no off-chain engine, no counterparty custody. Set entries at specific price levels, take profit targets above current price, or bracket positions with limit and stop orders simultaneously. Limit orders execute without manual monitoring and without relying on an exchange's infrastructure.

Stop-Loss Orders. Define a downside exit trigger. When the market hits your stop price, Definitive executes the exit onchain automatically. For professional traders running multiple simultaneous positions across chains, manual stop-loss execution is simply not scalable. Automated stops are not optional risk management — they are required for running a disciplined professional operation.

Market Orders. Fast execution across all available DEX liquidity with smart routing for best fill. When speed is the priority over price optimization — entering a fast-moving position, executing a time-sensitive rebalance — market orders execute immediately.

All four order types are available across all nine supported chains: Base, Arbitrum, Ethereum, Optimism, Polygon, Avalanche, BNB, HyperEVM, and Solana. Professional traders operating across chains do not need different tools for different chains — one terminal handles all of it.

Privacy and Execution Separation

Onchain trading is public by default. Every wallet address is visible in every transaction. For retail traders, this is inconvenient. For professional traders managing significant capital, it is a material competitive disadvantage.

Your onchain activity reveals your positions, your entries, your exits, and your strategy. Copytrading bots replicate your trades in real time. Front-running bots anticipate your large orders and extract value from your execution. Competitive funds analyze your historical activity to understand your strategy. None of this is theoretical — it is happening, at scale, to professional onchain traders right now.

Performer Addresses. Definitive's privacy mechanism routes your orders through proxy addresses — Performer Addresses — so that your primary wallet address is not visible in the execution transaction. The transaction that appears onchain is associated with the Performer Address, not your primary address. Your wallet's trading history is not exposed during execution.

This provides meaningful protection against:

  • Copytrading bots that replicate large wallet activity in real time
  • Front-running that anticipates large orders based on wallet size and history
  • Competitive intelligence — other funds reverse-engineering your strategy from onchain data
  • Social exposure — public visibility of positions you are not ready to disclose

Performer Addresses are particularly valuable when executing TWAP orders. A 24-hour TWAP from a known large wallet is visible to anyone watching that address — including bots that will trade against you during the execution window. Performer Addresses break that visibility.

Execution separation. Definitive also supports custody separation from execution. Your assets remain in your primary custody infrastructure — Fireblocks, Fordefi, Safe, Squads, or EOA — while execution routes through Performer Addresses. The signing key never moves. The execution routing is obscured. Both security and privacy are maintained.

Fee Structure for High Volume

Professional traders care about fees — not because they are cheap, but because fee drag compounds over time at trading scale.

Definitive's fee structure is transparent and volume-sensitive.

Free tier. Major assets and stablecoins on Ethereum, Base, Solana, and Arbitrum trade with zero fees. ETH, USDC, WBTC, and other majors and stablecoin pairs are completely free. For professional traders whose volume is concentrated in large-cap assets and stablecoin pairs on these chains, the effective fee rate is zero on a significant portion of trading volume.

Volume tiers. For other assets and chains, fees start at 85 bps (T5) — the base rate for all traders. As trading volume increases and EDGE is staked, fees reduce progressively:

  • T5: 85 bps (base tier)
  • T4 through T2: Intermediate tiers with progressive reductions
  • T1: 25 bps (highest volume tier with staked EDGE)

A 60 bps reduction from 85 to 25 bps is significant at professional volume. A fund executing $5M per month in trades on non-major assets saves $30,000 annually at T1 relative to T5. Fee tier access is based on trading volume and staked EDGE — no application required, no institutional minimums.

Gasless on all chains. Definitive sponsors gas across all nine supported chains. Professional traders running TWAP strategies that generate many transactions, or managing positions simultaneously across multiple chains, benefit from gas-free execution that removes both cost and operational friction.

Multichain in One Terminal

Professional DeFi funds and traders operate across chains. Opportunity, liquidity, and yield are not concentrated on a single chain — managing a professional onchain portfolio means managing positions on Solana, Arbitrum, Base, and Ethereum simultaneously.

Most tools handle one or two chains well. Definitive is purpose-built as a multichain terminal.

All nine chains, one interface: Base, Arbitrum, Ethereum, Optimism, Polygon, Avalanche, BNB, HyperEVM, and Solana. Every supported chain has the full order type suite, gasless execution, smart routing, and post-trade reporting.

Aggregate portfolio view. Positions across all chains are visible in one place. Portfolio-level PnL and performance analytics aggregate across your full onchain footprint — no manual reconciliation from multiple tools.

Cross-chain execution without bridging. Executing on a new chain does not require bridging assets in advance. Definitive handles chain-specific routing — you focus on the trade, not the infrastructure.

Smart routing at scale. Across 100+ DEXs and 15+ offchain PMMs on all supported chains, Definitive's order router finds the optimal execution path for every trade. At professional trading volume, routing quality translates directly to better fills and lower effective execution costs. This is particularly significant for large TWAP orders where routing quality on each tranche accumulates to a material difference in final average price.

Post-trade reporting across all chains. Every trade on every chain is captured in Definitive's post-trade system. PnL, execution records, and routing details are available in aggregate across your full multichain operation. For funds with LP reporting obligations, this infrastructure reduces back-office overhead significantly.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do Performer Addresses work in practice?

When you enable Performer Address routing, Definitive routes your order through a proxy address rather than your primary wallet address. The onchain transaction that executes your trade shows the Performer Address, not your primary address. Your primary wallet's transaction history does not reflect the trade. Assets still settle to your primary wallet — execution routing is obscured, but your custody is not affected. This protects your trading strategy from front-running, copytrading, and competitive intelligence extraction.

What is the advantage of TWAP over manually splitting a large order?

Manual order splitting requires timing each execution, managing gas for each transaction, monitoring the market during execution, and making real-time judgment calls about tranche sizing. TWAP automates all of this — you set the parameters once and Definitive executes every tranche on schedule, routing each one for best fill. Automation removes execution risk from manual timing errors. Smart routing on each tranche achieves better average fills than simple market orders. And gasless execution means the cost of many transactions is zero. See our TWAP guide for a full comparison.

Can I integrate Definitive with Fireblocks without changing our custody policy?

Yes. Definitive connects to Fireblocks via API. Every transaction is subject to your existing Fireblocks policy — co-signing requirements, spending limits, vault permissions, approval workflows — exactly as configured. Definitive does not bypass or modify any Fireblocks policy. Your custody infrastructure is unchanged; Definitive adds execution and order management capability on top of it.

How does the fee tier system work and when do lower rates kick in?

Fee tiers are based on trading volume and staked EDGE. All traders start at T5 (85 bps). As monthly trading volume increases and more EDGE is staked, the tier progressively decreases. T1 (25 bps) is the top tier for the highest-volume traders. Major assets and stablecoins on Ethereum, Base, Solana, and Arbitrum are always free, regardless of tier.

Does post-trade reporting cover all chains in aggregate?

Yes. Every trade on every supported chain generates a post-trade record captured in Definitive's reporting system. PnL tracking and trade history are aggregated across your full multichain operation — Base, Arbitrum, Solana, and all other chains together. You can view performance by chain, by asset, by time period, or across your entire portfolio. Records are exportable for LP reporting, compliance, or personal performance analysis.

Is Definitive suitable for running systematic onchain strategies?

Yes. The combination of advanced order types (TWAP, limit, stop), gasless execution, Performer Address privacy, and multichain coverage makes Definitive well-suited for systematic strategies. Limit and stop orders execute automatically without manual monitoring. TWAP handles systematic position building and unwinding. Performer Addresses protect systematic strategies from being front-run or reverse-engineered from onchain data. Post-trade reporting provides the performance data needed to evaluate and refine systematic approaches over time.
