About Definitive & Flash

Definitive Finance (www.definitive.fi) is the leading institutional-grade trading terminal & API for DeFi.

Definitive delivers a CeFi-like experience in DeFi, with advanced orders (TWAP, DCA, Limit, Stop, TP) and access to 900+ liquidity sources across EVM and Solana — in one terminal and API. Trusted by top Hedge Funds, projects, DAO Treasuries, and pro-traders, Definitive has executed $3B in notional spot volume with non-custodial, battle-tested infrastructure.

Flash is for any builder, whether agentic or human, that wants to access the most powerful trade execution infrastructure.

If your users trade, and you want to give them more than a basic market order — Flash is for you. Flash is for you if you’re building an app and your users keep asking for limit and stop orders. Or you’re building an AI trading agent that needs the most powerful execution layer available. Or trading is one feature in your app and you don’t want to spend 6+ months building the infra. Flash makes Definitive’s professional-grade infrastructure available to everyone.

The easiest way to integrate Flash is to point your AI coding agent at our LLM-optimized docs. Give it flash.definitive.fi/docs/llms.txt and it has everything it needs to build the integration for you.

The easiest way to test Flash is with our MCP server. Add @definitive-fi/flash-mcp to Claude, ChatGPT, or your favorite coding agent and start placing quotes and orders right away.

Yes — Flash was built with agentic workflows as a first-class use case. The API is stateless and REST-based. Your agent doesn’t need to handle gas, nonces, MEV protection, or retry logic — it submits an intent and Flash handles the rest.

For agents that speak MCP, our @definitive-fi/flash-mcp server exposes quoting, order submission, balances, and order management as tools — drop it into Claude, ChatGPT, or any MCP-compatible agent to give it trading capabilities out of the box.

Product & Integration

Flash offers a full suite of advanced order types out-of-the-box, including DCA, Limit, Stop Loss, Take Profit, TWAP and Quick Trade Sniping. See our Docs for more information on order types and how to place orders using Flash.

Flash supports all major chains for trading — including major EVM chains and Solana — through a single unified API. Any ERC-20 or SPL spot token is available on Flash, plus RWAs like tokenized equities or tokenized Pre-IPO exposure. We are always adding new chains and assets, which integrators will automatically inherit as they are added!

Yes. Flash’s smart contracts were audited with no major findings in May 2026. Definitive’s smart contracts have been audited by top-tier security firms multiple times.

Security is at the core of what we do at Definitive, with our team’s institutional pedigree, $3B+ in notional spot volume, and millions of transactions landed as testament.

Fully Non-Custodial: Tokens remain in your wallet until the exact moment a trade executes, even for conditional orders like Limits.

MEV-Protected: Flash’s trade engine protects users from MEV attacks and front-running in a multi-pronged approach.

Pre-execution simulation. Before submitting any transaction onchain, Flash simulates the swap offchain to detect malicious or compromised liquidity pools and to optimize for the best execution.

Offchain Order Intent + Private submission. Trade intent is kept offchain, so they are not visible to MEV bots or other market participants prior to execution. Orders are submitted through private channels, preventing front-running. On Solana, orders are landed with priority fees and MEV-protected inclusion.

Flash’s smart contract audits and more information about security can be found here.

You set your own fee on every trade. See our Monetizing Your Integration page for details. When a trade executes, your fee is deducted from the trade output and sent directly to you in real-time. You control what you charge your users. There is no fee to integrate Definitive Flash.

TypeScript and Python SDKs ship with the full API surface — quoting, order submission, status polling, cancellation, WebSocket streaming. The Python SDK is designed for agentic workflows. The underlying REST API is fully documented so you can integrate from any language that speaks HTTP.

Rate limits are 5 requests per second (RPS). Bespoke rate limits can be available — please contact us to discuss your specific needs.

Flash handles retry logic automatically. If a transaction fails due to gas estimation issues, network congestion, or transient errors, Flash will retry with optimized parameters — including adjusted gas and slippage settings — without any action required from you or your user. Failed fills on TWAP orders don’t cancel the entire order — Flash continues executing the remaining fills on schedule.

When a user places a trade order through Flash, it is executed through one of Definitive’s many proxy addresses rather than directly from the user’s wallet. This means the user’s wallet address is less visible onchain during execution, helping to mitigate negative impacts from MEV, bots and front-running. For TWAP orders, each trade fill is randomly assigned to a Definitive proxy address for execution. Our TWAP algorithm also randomizes fill sizes and time intervals, making it even harder for onchain observers to identify the order pattern and trade intent.

Order Types Explained

A Limit Order lets you set the exact price at which you want to buy or sell a token. The trade only executes if Definitive can guarantee execution at your specified limit price or better. Limit orders can result in a partial fill if only part of the trade can be filled at the desired limit price. Will not execute if estimated price impact, slippage, etc results in execution price being lower than specified Limit Price. It’s one of the most fundamental tools in professional trading, and Flash offers Limit Orders for any token on EVM and Solana.

A Stop-Loss is a protective order that automatically sells a token when it drops to a price you set. It’s designed to limit downside — if the market moves against you, the Stop-Loss triggers and exits the position without you needing to watch the screen. Note that Stop orders are a triggered order. They are Inactive until your specified stop price is hit, after which a market sell is executed which can result in slippage and price impact. Professional traders and institutions use Stop-Loss orders as a core risk management tool, and Flash makes them available via a simple API call.

A Take Profit order is the inverse of a Stop-Loss — it automatically sells a token when it rises to a price you set. It locks in gains at your target without requiring you to monitor the market. Just like a Stop order, Take Profit is a trigger order. When your trigger price is met, a market sell is executed which can result in slippage and price impact. Used together, Stop-Loss and Take Profit give your users bracket-style risk management: define the downside floor and the upside exit, and Flash handles the rest.

TWAP stands for Time-Weighted Average Price. It’s a trading algorithm that breaks a large order into smaller pieces and executes them over a specified period of time set by you (as short as 10 minutes or as long as 30 days). The goal is to reduce market impact — instead of moving the price by dumping or buying a large amount all at once, TWAP spreads the order out so you get a better average execution price. Definitive’s TWAP also randomizes order fill times and sizes and routes through proxy addresses, protecting against front-running and wallet tracking.

They look similar but solve different problems. DCA (Dollar-Cost Averaging) is a long-term investment strategy — you buy a fixed dollar amount on a recurring schedule (weekly, monthly) regardless of price, with the goal of smoothing your entry over months or years.

TWAP is a trade execution algorithm. It’s designed to fill one specific order over a specific time window (minutes, hours, or days) while minimizing price impact and slippage. A fund executing a $500K buy doesn’t want to hit the order book all at once — TWAP breaks it into hundreds of smaller fills at optimized intervals.

In short: DCA is an investment strategy. TWAP is an execution strategy.

Trading Concepts

Spot trading is the most straightforward way to trade — you’re buying or selling a token at its current market price, with the asset delivered to your wallet immediately upon execution. When you swap USDC for ETH on a DEX, that’s a spot trade. Flash supports spot trading for any ERC-20 or SPL token across all 12 supported chains, with the added benefit of advanced order types like Limit, Stop Loss and Take Profit that let you control exactly when and how your spot trades execute.

RWAs are traditional financial assets — stocks, indexes, commodities, treasury bills — that have been tokenized and brought onchain. Instead of holding a share of Apple through a brokerage, you hold a token that represents that share and can be traded 24/7 on decentralized exchanges. Flash supports RWA trading for products like xStocks (tokenized equities), Prestocks (pre-IPO tokenized shares), and Centrifuge tokenized index products. This means your app or agent can offer users access to both crypto-native tokens and real-world financial instruments through a single API.

Perpetual futures — or “perps” — are derivative contracts that let you bet on the price of an asset going up or down without actually owning it. Unlike traditional futures, perps have no expiration date — you can hold a position indefinitely. They also allow leverage, meaning you can control a larger position with less capital (which also amplifies risk). Perps are one of the most traded instruments in crypto.
